"For truly, the body needs a song, a spirit, a soul. And no less, to make this work, the soul has need of a body. And I am both of this earth and I am of the inexplicable beauty of heaven." -Mary Oliver
Like Love, Beauty and Goodness, Soul is difficult to define. Soul as an adjective is more comfortable –Soulful, Soul-Food, Soul Music or Soul-less. The world of Soul is the world of sensation, feeling, connection, creativity and Divinity. Experiences of Soul require embodied presence and awareness of both inner and outer worlds. Soul is experienced through/in our bodies. Deep healing and personal growth require attention to both body and soul. When I speak of body/soul work I am referring to a family of integrative healing modalities that address body and soul as a unit. While there are many ways to do this, I have worked most deeply with three-BodySoul Rhythms®, Mind-Body Skills Groups, and Zero-Balancing®. Each of these systems focuses on different aspects of body/soul healing, and are practiced in different settings. BodySoul Rhythms®-style programs (see my Soultending page) are group experiences ,usually for women. The accent is on dreams, expressive arts and spirituality. In Mind-Body Skills Groups the emphasis is on deep listening and the acquisition of ‘mind-body’ (meditative) skills for self-care. Zero-Balancing ® provides one-on-one bodywork, balancing body energy and structure through safe/respectful touch, allowing the client to release physical and emotional tension. These body/soul practices support and compliment Natural Dreamwork. They help the dreamer to trust herself and our work together. I draw on elements of all three programs in my work with clients individually, and also offer group programs from time to time. You can find out more information about upcoming offerings on the Workshops/Events page. If you would like to be notified about upcoming programs join my mailing list.
